An exhibition curated by families
This exhibition builds on Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s Teulu project, which began in 2023. Local families were invited by the Arts Centre to put together an exhibition using collections from the National Library of Wales, National Museum Wales, and the School of Art, Museum and Galleries at Aberystwyth University.
The project continued in the summer with a focus on ceramics. Families from Borth, Aberystwyth, and nearby areas explored the University’s Ceramics Collection, looking at themes like the seaside, family, and home.
Over three weeks in the summer, these families created their own pottery in the Arts Centre’s pottery studio, learning techniques like hand-building, decorating, and glazing. They also chose pieces from the Ceramics Collection to display with their own creations.
This exhibition showcases the imagination and creativity of the parents, carers, and children who participated, and highlights the fun we had working together.
