Susan O'Byrne was born in Cork, Ireland. She studied Design and Applied Art at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1999, followed by a a Post Graduate Diploma in Ceramics. She continues to work in Scotland.
She makes animal forms using paperclay and porcelain, building up a collage of layers decorated with stencil designs based on medieval tiles.
