Rudolf Schardt took over the West German factory founded by his father Georg Schardt and renamed the company "Ruscha". It was known for its innovative shapes and 'Fat Lava' glazes. Cilli Wörsdörfer was responsible for the art pottery department in the 1950s and was famous for her hand-painted designs including "Milano" and "Zebra". Otto Gerharz was production director from 1951 and devised the "Vulkano" glaze. Kurt Tschörner created most of the shapes. Other notable designers were Ernst Borens, Hans Welling and Adele Bolz. The company became part of the Scheurich group after 1996.
