Born in London she studied painting at Farnham School of Art (1956-1960) and was Head of Sculpture at Harrow School of Art. In 1965 she moved to Llandeilo in Wales where she combined part-time teaching at Swansea College of Art with bringing up a family and making her own work. During the mid 1970s the popularity of her work allowed her to make sculpture and ceramics her main occupation. For some years she also ran a gallery in Llandeilo. Her figurative subjects capture an instant moment 'like a snapshot'. There is often satirical humour and wit in her intricate pieces with surreal, disturbing undertones. The work also mines literary, mythic and other sources for inspiration.
