CROWN DUCAL

View in collection Crown Ducal was established by A.G. Richardson and Co., Ltd., of Tunstall and Cobridge, England. The business was founded in 1915 and by 1921 was producing notable aerographed, plain coloured table wares. The business was sucessful and in 1934 the Britannia Pottery, Cobridge was acquired. At the time it was considered a model factory, it was circular in plan, all departments were on one floor except the moulding shop, therefore a maximum of production with a minimum of effort was achieved. By 1956 Crown Ducal wares included breakfast, coffee, morning and dessert sets, as well as a range of 'fancies'. In 1974 the business was sold to Enoch Wedgwood (Tunstall) Ltd and was subsequently closed.
