A Hountchonou and V Bamigbola BENIN

View in collection Veronique Bambigbola (b.1950) Angeline Hountchonou (b.1957) These potters work in the 'Poterie a Mouzoungoudou' in Benin, Africa, making traditional African ceramics. These pots are well adapted for their use, retaining porosity to allow transpiration and cooling of the pots' contents as well as the ability to withstand the uneven and rapid heating and cooling when cooking over an open fire. In 2005 they came to the International Ceramics Festival in Aberystwyth to demonstrate their handbuilding techniques and traditional bonfire firing.
