Ingrid MURPHY

View in collection Ingrid Murphy studied ceramics in her hometown of Cork, Ireland, and then completed an MA in Ceramics at Cardiff School of Art and Design (now University of Wales Institute, Cardiff) where she went on to become the Course Director. She is the winner of both the University of Glamorgan Purchase Prize for Ceramics and the Prix Select at AIR, Vallauris, and co-founder of La Perdrix Art Centre, Dordogne, France. In 2010 she received a Creative Wales Award which enabled her to explore haptic technologies i.e. the science of applying touch (tactile) sensation and control through interaction with computer applications. With this piece, she has printed a QCR (quick response code) on to the body of the figure which is enabled by smartphone applications and links to an online animation.
