Jane STANILAND

View in collection She studied at Camberwell School of Art and Craft before setting up her
own studio at the 401 1/2 Workshops in Wandsworth in 1986. Her work has a domestic element with flamboyant shapes and bold splashes of colour, her characters inspired by figures from  Renaissance paintings.  In 1990, when this piece in the Collection was made, she described her watering cans and other large domestic vessels as 'warm loving statements about everyday life and the home one would wish to create'.
