Phoebe STABLER

View in collection Wife of fellow sculptor and ceramic modeller, Harold Stabler, whom she had married in 1906. Phoebe Stabler began work at the Poole Pottery in about 1911, developing of series of pottery figures with rich coloured glazes, such as Lavender Woman, Bath Towel and Children with Bull, all of which are in the Aberystwyth Ceramic Collection. Several of these were later produced under licence by Royal Doulton, Royal Worcester and the Ashtead Pottery. She collaborated with her husband on several large scale architectural works, such as the War Memorial at Rugby School. See Hayward, L.
